So yeah… I didn’t really post anything on this weeks episodes. Why? Did I just get lazy? Did I stop caring about my dozens of loyal readers? No, it wasn’t any of that. It’s just that there isn’t much to say anymore about these initial episodes. There were a lot of bad singers and very few good. A handful of the bad got through. There you go, week summarized.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, Hollywood week is when the show really starts to be entertaining. The claws come out during this week. The whole rest of the show after Hollywood week has all of the contestants acting very friendly with one another. Mostly because once the final 24 are announced, those people aren’t really competing anymore. Everyone gets their fanbase built and those people vote like crazy. Archuletta had all of those horrible, annoying tweens voting for him in astrological proportions. He didn’t make it that far on talent, he was cute and friendly enough for 12 year olds around the world to fall in love with. That’s how you win American Idol. You don’t have to be the best singer (see Taylor Hicks), you just have to get a good group to follow you.
Which makes Hollywood week all the more entertaining. This is the one week when the competition is an actual competition. People call each other names, fight the judges and do anything to get another round further. This is when the contestants are at their most desperate and desperation makes for fantastic TV. With that said, I will chime in more after next weeks episodes. I feel like there will be more to say.
